Hello World,

Its our last week here and things are ending well. At least 3 crazy things have happened since i last wrote. Let 3 different stories all happening within the last few days.

1) Well, lets start with the biggest thing. For the first time since living in the DR we have been robbed. Not a crazy gun or evil person robbed but none the less a loss. Isabel and I went to the Hogar de Ancianos (retirement home) and while we were

there a "mystery man" came with the notion of watching his horses graze across the street. The kitchen help knew the man, or so we presumed, so we didnt bother to take any special notice of him. A few minutes later he left. A few minutes after that

Mallol walks out grumbling about the man taking something. The home went into an uproar when Isabels purse came up missing.

Well, an uproar means great grumbles, attempts at standing and a few shaken fists followed by vows of physical harm to the man who stole Isabels purse. We were told that the man could be found and that everyone knew him. We then left for my intership.

The unfortunate thing is that the man stole our cell phone, keys and 7 pesos. The most dangerous thing is the loss of keys.

We had to change all the locks on our house in case this guy decided to try and break in. Miguel (our leader) returned to the scene of the crime and immediatley the nurses claimed innocents and refused to talk about the man. It's sad because now we dont know

if we can trust people we thought we could. We lost alot more than keys.

2) My BIRTHDAY happened. December 7th and it was lot of fun. We had cake, pizza and played a round the circle pictionary game Dominican style. It turned out to be really fun.

3) I killed my first mouse. We have these little sticky traps that mice run on (or leah) and they get stuck. If you leave them long enough the will starve or suffocate but I had to kill him immediatley with a shovel. I could say that the shovel just dropped out of my hand and was conveniently placed. But that would be a lie. And im not sure if it was the mouse screaming or me but either way the neighbors are now aware of my unkept rage.

So please pray for my team and our friends. There are some hard things happening and we know that God is at the root of it all.

THANKYOU so much for your prayers and love.

 Emily
